Seattle has been named the “crane capital of America” for the third year in a row by Rider Levett Bucknall, which counts construction cranes in big cities across the globe twice a year. Construction across Seattle metro has rebounded strongly from a relative lull in early 2018.
Seattle has 65 towering construction cranes reshaping its skyline, currently more than twice as many cranes as any city other than Chicago (which was second with 40) or Los Angeles (which has 36). Portland moved up to fourth place, with 30 construction cranes.
