More people moved to Oregon last year than almost any other state, according to a new study by United Van Lines, which says the state of Oregon is the second most popular moving destination in 2019.

United Van Lines, the nation’s largest household goods mover, reported that more people moved into Oregon (66%) than out (34%) in 2019. In all, nearly 3,000 households moved into Oregon.

The annual National Movers Study reveals the data of inbound and outbound moves on a state-by-state basis. Relocating baby boomers, job transfers and regional housing costs were key influencers in 2019 moving patterns.

Will Oregon’s growth continue? “Most likely,” says Mark Nichols, Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association Board of Director. “I see that it is a continuing problem with the baby boom generation retiring, wanting to move a generally more relaxed area and Oregon is definitely one of the more relaxed areas.”
